If we do not mean to offend homosexuals by saying that it’s wrong to be gay or that being gay isn’t “bad”, then why use it to call things bad?
Imagine for a moment if we started using “that’s black”, “that’s Christian”, or “That’s a woman thing to do” openly in a negative manner. Right now, these type of phrases sound absolutely ridiculous, but that is because our society never previously used them in this fashion (race/sex comes pretty close, though). Not to mention that it would be considered highly offensive if you did. Why? Because we find nothing wrong with being any of these things.. at least in public.
From a logical standpoint, why couldn’t homosexuals be thrown in that group as well? Why does their label have to have a second meaning as “bad”? I don’t pretend to be a saint and say I don’t do it myself, but I’m still trying my best to get it out of my system. I can only imagine how it would subconsciously feel for someone to live in a society where they constantly hear their label as something negative every single day. It won’t affect homosexuals all the same way, but I think it would affect those of the example groups I mentioned above.
